Tiger Shark
(Galeocerdo cuvieri)

Young Tiger sharks have large spots that become "tiger" stripes. The stripes tend to fade as they grow older. The "pups" are 18-19 inches long at birth. One of the largest sharks in Florida waters, they can grow to a length of 20 feet and weigh over 1500 pounds. Tiger sharks are large and voracious. The stomachs of captured specimens contained fish, dolphins, sea turtles, dogs, cans, pig bones and trash.
