Green Initiatives
Reporting Relationship
The Green Initiatives Intern reports directly to the Green Team Chairperson (presently the Director of the Spa).
Hours
Interns will be scheduled approximately 30 - 40 hours per week. Some exceptions will apply.
Overview
The intern is responsible for assisting the Green Chairperson and Green Team in providing guests, club members, property owners, employees, and the general public with information to better their understanding of Amelia Island Plantation’s commitment to being a Green Lodging resort. They provide consultation for departments in which nature directly affects the work environment. The intern will be a member of the Green Team and assist in educating, initiating, maintaining, and monitoring our current commitment to be “In Harmony with Nature.”
Required Skills/Certificates Including Physical Requirements
Must have:
• Exceptional customer service skills and have an interest in educating others about nature and importance of living green • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Clear or corrected vision • Good hearing • Positive and enthusiastic attitude • A valid driver¹s license and maintain acceptable driver status
Must be:
• Fluent in conversational English (speaking, reading, writing and understanding) • Able to lift 40 pounds • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Power Point • Flexible in daily schedule • A self-starter and be able to work independently • Motivated and able to interact with a variety of different departments
Preferred Skills/Certifications
• Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously • Able to speak to groups of people, including middle and upper level managers • Time management skills

Green Initiatives Intern Activities:
1. Assist in maintaining and updating property wide Green Monitoring checklist.
2. Develop and implement Green educational programs for local schools and students.
3. Assist with media interaction with Public Relations and Marketing.
4. Assist with research projects as assigned by supervisor.
5. Assist in the development of electronic newsletters for promoting the Green initiatives at Amelia Island Plantation.
6. Maintain Green Program Hotline and respond to voicemail inquiries, questions and concerns.
7. Update the property Green Book as needed.
8. Assist and collaborate in Green Lodging Mentor Program.
9. Contribute to long range plans and track personal progress.
10. Maintain and utilize a time management system.
11. Maintain electronic correspondence related to the AIP Green email address.
12. Attend Customer Service class.
13. Operate standard office equipment.
14. Complete a major project as assigned.
15. Attend staff and Home Team meetings.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.The intern may be subject to indoor and outdoor environmental changes and conditions.
