Reporting Relationship
Corporate Recreation Interns report directly to the Group Recreation Manager & Assistant Group Recreation Manager, and indirectly to the Social Recreation Manager and Director of Recreation, depending on the program.
Hours
Interns will be scheduled 40 - 50 hours per week. Some exceptions will apply.
Overview
The intern is responsible for assisting the managers with all daily operations including program design, set-up, implementation, evaluation, guest relations, group file work, major projects, and minor facility upkeep. Interns will be responsible for attending pertinent meetings and making client calls when necessary. Emphasis will vary depending on business demands. Intern will also assist with social programs, including children’s programs and holiday activities.
Required Skills/Certificates Including Physical Requirements
Must have:
• Exceptional customer service skills
• A basic knowledge of computers
• Group recreational planning and programming experience and a desire to work with adults as well as children
• A valid driver’s license and maintain acceptable driver status (See “Driving Eligibility”)
• CPR, First Aid and AED Certification
Must be:
• Functionally literate with verbal and written communication skills
• Fluent in conversational English (speaking, reading, writing and understanding)
• Able to lift 75 pounds, be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, walk, climb stairs and be able to stand for long periods of time
|• First Aid and CPR/PR (CPR for the professional rescuer) certified, and have ocean and pool swimming abilities
• Flexible and willing to work long and/or odd hours
• A self-starter and be able to work independently

Corporate Recreation Intern Activities:
1. Assist with, plan and organize activities for Corporate Group Recreation events.
2. Complete a major project, team projects and assist with holiday assignments.
3. Complete daily reports and any required school work in required time.
4. Ring up guest checks in the Point of Sale computer system.
5. Greet and converse with in-house guests, group contacts and vendors in a professional manner.
6. Staff the Information Hut by providing both property and local information, selling items and handing out pool towels.
7. Develop, implement and evaluate programs.
8. Complete administrative duties.
9. Assist guests with program and service registration.
10. Assist with the upkeep of facilities and props or supplies.
11. Assist in selling Group Recreation to potential clients.
12. Assist Amelia’s Wheels, Aquatics and Nature Center as needed.
13. Attend all necessary meetings and give reports on those meetings.
14. Plan and implement Kids Camp Amelia and Just for Kids programs when the need arises (high occupancy, holidays, etc).
15. Plan, execute and evaluate Social Recreation programs when assigned.
16. Attend staff “Home Team” meetings.
17. Attend Customer Service class.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
The intern may be exposed to all weather conditions, slippery floors, and very hot and cold conditions due to freezers and ovens. Start dates are flexible (minimum of 12 weeks, 16 weeks being ideal).
