LODGING

The beauty and nature at Amelia Island Plantation surrounds our accommodations and our facilities. To keep it that way, we pay attention to what goes on inside those facilities. With our computerized HVAC monitoring system, guests can set each room’s temperature individually. When the room is vacant for an extended period, the sensors will reset to an energy-saving level until the guest returns. If a sliding glass door remains open, the unit will turn off until the door is closed.

Our Amelia Inn and our other facilities have had fluorescent energy saving bulbs installed into fixtures. The replacement bulbs have improved energy efficiency, both within the lighting fixtures and in the HVAC required to keep the rooms at a constant temperature. Plumbing fixtures present another important opportunity for good environmental responsibility. With low flow fixtures and automatic sinks installed in guest and public restrooms, water savings are substantial. Automatic on/off lights in public restrooms also contribute to the “green” environment on Amelia Island Plantation.

Project Planet, the linen and towel re-use program, assures guests that Amelia Island Plantation is saving hundreds of thousands of gallons of water and tons of laundry detergent each year. By re-using their towels and linens more than one day, guests can make their own contribution to Living Green.

Additional initiatives:

• Clean and green housekeeping products are used throughout the property
• Recycling is available in guest rooms as well as throughout the resort
• Environmentally friendly in-room amenities (soap, lotion, shampoo)
• Tinted glass on Amelia Inn sliding glass doors
• Use of high efficiency air filters and frequent cleaning of air handlers
