CONFERENCES and SPECIAL EVENTS

In addition to the important company-wide green initiatives, we also provide options to Live Green for conference groups and special event organizers (covering intimate groups of 25 for weddings to major groups of 1000). These options include:

  • Catering Managers and Chefs offering organic and locally grown food for event dishes
  • A selection of biodynamic (self sustaining) wines available from Benziger and King Estates
  • Sending and receiving written communication and event documentation electronically to reduce paper and energy usage (except on special customer request)
  • Excess food being donated to Second Harvest Food Bank or a local church and homeless shelter on Amelia Island
  • Recycling of ink and printer cartridges (in addition to newspapers, glass, plastic and aluminum) by our Conference Services and Operations staff
  • Providing information to event organizers and guests on Living Green while at Amelia

Guests and Meeting Planners Can Make Contributions to Living Green

We offer our guests ideas to Live Green while at Amelia. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Take part in recycling by utilizing special recycling containers located in guest rooms and throughout the resort property
  • Participating in Project Planet, a simple way to conserve water and energy through towel and linen re-use
  • Utilizing pitchers and glasses for water, instead of disposable water bottles; bring or purchase a refillable water bottle to use throughout the stay
  • Conserve water by turning off the faucet while brushing teeth and turn off the water when not in use while bathing
  • Use canvas or multi-use bags for purchases
  • Reduce paper by emailing presentation materials to participants or by posting it on a website for downloading, rather than providing large numbers of copies
  • Reduce energy usage by turning off lights when meeting rooms are not in use
  • Reduce energy usage by not propping outside doors open
  • Conference organizers also can provide these materials:
    • On a CD or flash drive
    • On a customer-created CD with specific information downloaded previously
    • Printed in duplex
