INTRODUCTION
"We have focused on
being in harmony with nature since our founding in 1971.
Our environmental record is unusually strong and our
company's "Green Team" has moved it to an even higher
level for the environment, the resort and our island as
a whole."
Jack Healan, President of the Amelia Island Company
Our commitment to nature and the environment stretches
back to our founding in 1971. With our new green lodging
certification in 2008, Amelia Island Plantation is
sharing with the world what our guests have known for
years -- Amelia Island Plantation is the personification
of natural beauty. That nature takes the form of
maritime forests full of live oaks, palmetto bushes, and
all manner of wildlife from gopher tortoises to
raccoons. It stretches from the magnificent Atlantic
Ocean with dolphins and right whales to the salt marshes
of the Intracoastal Waterway and its alligators and
birds. The management and staff of Amelia are committed
to the steps necessary to help protect, restore and
conserve our natural resources.
